Melissa + Trevor | Golden Hour at Brittany Hill, Denver-metro Area

Melissa and Trevor reached out to me pretty far in advance so we had time to plan for engagement photos. During that time, I really got to get to know them. For instance, Melissa’s relationship with her granny is deeply engrained in her. Melissa’s favorite animal is the butterfly and represents her relationship with her father. Trevor..well. He’s obsessed Bonsai Johnson. You’ll see who that is later. What I gathered is that they are huge family folks, it only made sense that so much emotion went into planning this. A few months prior, I did a first look with Melissa and her granny while her granny was in an assisted living space. This really gave me a chance to see their bond and to see the light in both of their eyes as we spent the afternoon together. Unfortunately, she passed about a week before the wedding. I was so happy to have been able to capture those precious memories beforehand. This did make wedding day even more vulnerable. However, we know that she was still there in spirit and so happy for them.

We started getting ready at a Denver hotel down the street from the venue. Melissa shared laughs with her momma and her girls before her three first looks of the day: bridal party, dad, and Trevor.

Melissa was even tearing up after she was fully ready (included but not limited to - CONVERSE).

Melissa works with lil’ kiddos in behavioral therapy. Two of them played a big role in her day. One pictured below helping out, another that was too camera shy but came down the aisle anyway!

Oh look who it is…it’s Bonsai Johnson, who else? Their fur baby!

THIS. LIGHT. AHHH. It’s not often I get this perfect light during ceremony. It really made everyone glow even more.

Emotion pouring as they stepped over to granny’s seat.

A congrats cheers and yummy snacks during the marriage license signing.

The view of the Denver skyline from the deck during sunset.

Since we had ceremony during golden hour that means..portraits at/after sunset! Too late you say? I personally love the way the sky looks during this time. If it’s planned like this, we don’t have to rush to use the golden light because we can keep shooting through the evening. After delivering the photos, I was told that this is Trevor’s new contact photo in Melissa’s phone. I’M DEAD. Trevor loved posing for me HAHA.

Adding this photo in here because it was one of my favorite touches of the reception. Table assignments by national parks they’ve visited in vintage frames and an engagement photo I took in the middle!

Their entrance went into their first dance which was very heavily practiced. Kudos for killing the spins and dance moves, y’all.

Tears from dad as butterfly kisses plays. I might’ve teared up too.

Dancing in the hallway as we waited for family portraits. Best way to kill time.

One of my favorite sets of the night because it is so hilarious. Garter toss got SERIOUS!

I met with Melissa to hand deliver her USB when I was finished editing. We talked a bunch because we both have similar interests. I think we’ll see each other at hot yoga or future photos soon. ;)

Thank you for being so sweet through your emotional rollercoaster, you two. Congrats, xo
